GORE™ Protective Vents allows EPS Core Surfboards to pass air back and forth between the core and the exterior of the board while preventing water from entering. This is due because EPS surfboard materials are affected by extreme temperature changes. There is a double membrane of “Gore-Tex” either side of a rubber O-ring. This membrane is waterproof this allows the vent to works by allowing air and other gases to pass through the membrane freely but stops liquids from entering the enclosure. The Gore-Tex membrane does not require any adjustment. Please note: Vents are black.
The Diameter of the base member is 32mm, we would recommend to drill a 34-36mm hole to ensure there is efficient amount of resin around to base. The base member does not have a pre-drilled hole to allow for air to release. This is due to base member having to be install with resin, having a pre-drilled hole which is not covering correctly can allow resin to flow into the base member and then fill in the tapped thread. Therefore once you set your base member and resin has gone off, you then simply drill a 3mm hole through the base member.

The technology behind the vent's breathability lies in our ePTFE materials. Gore microporous ePTFE membrane prevents pressure build up by constantly equalizing the difference in pressure between the inside of the enclosure and its immediate environment. This constant exchange reduces the pressure on the seals. The vent works by allowing air and other gases to pass through the membrane freely but stops liquids from entering the enclosure. The membrane offers varying flow rates and liquid protection. The industry standard for epoxy Surfcraft that utilised expanded polystyrene foam or hollow boards such as timber surfboards.
