The "Blank + Material Kit" includes all the materials required to laminate, filler coat and fin system installation parts required to complete your own board. The hand picked selection of materials is the same you will find on any leading board builder! Please refer to Shaping/Glassing/Sanding Tool Kits Sections for Tools required to build your own board.
The Shortboard Blank and Material Kit includes:
- Longboard Blank. Please select Size of blank.
- 4 + 6Oz Fibreglass (our SEG Series). You will receive enough fibreglass to laminate 1 x 4oz and 1 x 6oz layers on the deck and 1 layer of 6oz on the bottom.
- 4L Surfboard Laminating Resin.
- 5L Sunbake UV Additive.
- 200ml Wax and Styrene. For converting Laminating Resin into Filler Resin.
- MEKP Catalyst.
- Leash Plug (Shapers Glassing Leash Plug)
- Fin System Options Include:
- Box Fin Plug + Dual or Single Tab Stabilisers.

7'7 Blank is design for boards under and used commonly for mid length and mini mal.
8'4 Blank is design for boards under and used commonly for mid length and mini mal.
9'2 Blank is design for board up to 9'2 in length and commonly used for performance longboards.
9'8 Blank is design for board up to 9'8 in length and commonly used for traditional longboards and Logs.
WAX & STYRENE
Is used with Surfboard Laminate Resin to make Filler Resin Coat (Final Coat Prior Sanding). A ration of 2.5% is required of Wax and Stryene to Laminating Resin.
SUNBAKE
Shapers SunBake UV Solar Additive is and optional curing agent that is to be used with Laminating or Filler Resin and allows for UV catalysing (hardening) of the resin, that does not require MEKP Catalyst. Specifically formulated for stronger, brighter surfboard laminates without curing time constraints.
Please ensure when repairing or laminating a surfboard you keep the resin AWAY FROM DIRECT SUN LIGHT as this will cause rapid hardening of resin.
NOTES FOR USE:
Please beware resin will cure within minutes when exposed to sunlight.
Example of curing times by sunlight:
Bright Sun: Gel 15 Seconds / Full cure 5 minutes.
Partial Sun: Gel 30 Seconds / Full cure 6-8 minutes. Bright Sun: Gel 45-60 Seconds / Full cure 10 minutes. -
Work only indoor or isolated area out of sunlight. - Always test small sample of resin in sun before use. - If repair depth is over 1/4”, you will need to add MEKP to the resin at 1% to catalyse. MEKP Catalyst (Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide). Curing time with MEKP for a depth of 1/4” should curve within 15-30.
Fin System Options: Fin plugs do not come with fins.
